Effective hockey skill development and the benefits of power skating can be experienced by every player with proper instruction, whether he/she is a beginner and is just learning how to play hockey or has been playing for years.
But how does it happen? Is it a result of doing hockey drills alone? Although drills are key, there’s something that has to happen first to make the drills effective and that is each player needs to gain an understanding of the mechanics behind each of the hockey and power skating skills in each drill. The best way to make this happen is to break the skills down through the use of slow motion and still video. Hockey is a fast-moving sport so for many players, they aren’t able to simply watch an instructor do the skill at normal speed and then do the skill effectively. Even the pros and higher-level amateur hockey teams in North America make use of video with their teams for various reasons. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and it is with a series of pictures in the form of video footage that proper hockey skill development and instruction in power skating can happen. With this in mind, it is Captain Ice Hockey’s goal to give every player the chance to develop their hockey and power skating skills by breaking each one down, making them easier to learn so that players can enjoy the game more via our App (available soon on the App Store) and our player video analysis service.
